Tell us about your journey with 7 Elite Academy.
I began playing for the club right at its conception in St. George. Right away we had a pretty good squad. In our first year, we not only won our local league and various tournaments, but we also received first at the Presidents Cup Nationals event in Indianapolis. Another highlight id love to mention is, our Senior year, as a last harah and to expose our team to higher level academies and playing environments, we traveled to England. I’ve never had such a fun and quality playing experience with me team before or since then.
How did 7 Elite help you in terms of developing your skills in soccer and elsewhere in your life?
I’d say that 7 Elite came along a little later in my soccer career, but I would definitely say that it provided more avenues and opportunities for playing after club and high school. The DOC Johnny Broadhead helped me to create a resume for college coaches and gave me ideas for finding a team once I graduated. 7 Elite has the resources and people to make playing after high school a possibility.
What have you been doing since leaving 7 Elite Academy in terms of college, etc, and what are your plans moving forwards?
Since leaving 7 Elite, I have played 3 years of college soccer. 2 at Snow College where I met my beautiful wife. And 1 for a newer program at a school called Park University. I currently coach at the club and high school levels and I play occasionally all while working full time. My plans moving forward include a lot of coaching soccer. One of my passions is data and how it applies to soccer at all levels, and I will be continuing to work on that skill and making it more available to youth players all over as they work and continue to develop their skills in the game.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining 7 Elite Academy at tryouts?
I’d say do it! 7 Elite has great teams all over the state, amazing people, and programs in place to expose you to the highest level possible.
